So, Aarons Micra (@k11_s59) is a beauty. Micra? Beauty you say? Must be joking right? Out of all the small hatches about for it’s era the Micro is not a car I would ever own, or compliment. The random roundness just made it look shit, so to see one that looks aggressive is a hard thing to find or build.
Recently I’ve come across a few that have raised my eyebrow but Aarons takes the prize. (Sorry Aaron theres no prize) Maybe the green of it, probably the badboy bonnet, intercooler, the black grills and arches, or maybe the fact this is a racecar. It started life with Aaron as a standard k11 Micra, he quickly burnt through 3 different engine setups. It was previously boosted with a ko4 hybrid turbo (had to google that, sounds impressive, google says it it impressive). Now running fast road setup pushing out about 120bhp with group A rally intake, cams and exhaust. I don’t have the greatest car history so I’ve never had 120 horses, but I know what 100 feels like in a standard hatch, so bear in mind this Micras been stripped out and now weights around 760kg and has the 120bhp I bet it flys.
When flying in any hatch back its pretty important to protect yourself and a standard interior aint going to cut it, so strip it out, weld in a half cage with harness bar, then install some Sparco harnesses to your harness bar, which of course keep you snugly in your Sparco seats, brace the car above and below, get some nice wheels, this Micra has sat on some nice dishy watanbe rims (I think) and white Wellars both of which are super rad wheels, drop her on some custom coilovers, cause as Aaron himself said ‘parts aren’t easy for such a shit car’
and then you have a legit Micra race car. Add some personal touches, interior lighting, custom door cards, colour coded gear knob and your laughing all the way to the obligatory standing on car photoshoot!
Cheers Aaron for the pics and info loving your work.
