So here’s a little retro beauty for your viewing pleasure. I saw this pop up on a few instagram feeds, and the more I saw it the more I thought, dam I want that. Its got that mix of old skool, new skool, and individual, but there something more, maybe that colour with those wing mirrors, or the 15″ extreme offset white smoothies filling the fibreglass flared arches, maybe just the arches giving the generally fairly dull bread van a bit of much needed meat?
There are loads of little things that make this such a mean ride, the monobrow (I don’t know what its called), taped up lights and bonnet pins definitely give it an aggressive front end, and I love how you look through the front screen past the speedhunters sun stripe, past the cobra buckets & harnesses, out the back to see the gold the Sump Scrappers sticker. Got to admit I think the use of stickers has added to the appeal of this ride. (Love a bit of MCM and all).
James has owned his mk2 for about 6 months and I’m stoked to hear its his daily driver, it loves a motorway run and depending on how you drive her, she’s alright on fuel, but unsurprisingly she munches front tyres, probably something to do with sitting snugly on coilovers over those smoothies. Theres plenty more going on with this ride that’s not so noticeable without seeing or hearing it in the flesh, full custom exhaust system, omex launch control and rev limiter, viper coil and HIDs. The interior has been stripped and carpeted, vibe audio system and OMP steering wheel for the win. With some nice performance upgrades planned this ride is something to look out for.
Final words from James: “I guess it’s a marmite car. Most young people like it, where as the older generation think it’s a turd. But I like that, it goes with my personality.” Now if that’s not a quote to end on I don’t know what is, cheers James.
