Second show of the season, and my first time to ‘Fez in the park’ and I reckon it was pretty good. I wasn’t expecting a good show of mk1&2s due to what I’d heard so was really pleased to see the Fenland stand (#fenlandoldskoolford)as I rolled in. By far the best stand of the show (excluding my club stand of course) with their rainbow show of Escorts and Fiesta’s sparkling in the fairly changeable Cambridge sunshine. Ford Tec (my club) had a great stand with a couple exceptional classics Fords and a good show of mk6&7s and then my XR as the centrepiece which was a great compliment! I took my sister, it was her first show, we strolled round looking for the ModiFLY hoodie winners, Fez of the Park & Rat of the Park. It was really hard to pick the best mk6. Initially I didn’t want to give it to a bagged smoothed fez because I felt the scene is going that way a bit much however the winner of best fez goes to Tom Whitfield, his Fez just blew me away. The epic paint job was enough but the clean lines, amazing wheels setup, and then the real clincher was the custom side skirt extensions which just made this Fez stand out. Which was a hard task as it was parked next too Graeme Hill’s purple fez which I’ve previously named my Fez of 2016.
I was glad I had a second hoodie to give out, as I really liked Michael Dennis fez, there’s something about a unrefined fez that still looks amazing. However my car of the show was this immaculate wide boy mk3 which was almost perfect. I say almost because I felt with the wide boy kit on it, the rear lights needed to sit flush with the kit, it would be an immense amount of work but bringing the lights out and extending the tailgate to fit would make this perfection. So many great cars that deserve a mention which sadly won’t get one.
In summary a few bits that stood out, the old skull turn out, the stunning cars and unlike InCarNation I wasn’t swamped in people downing massive monster energy drinks and sucking away on vapes which just pissed me off at InCarNation. I think Ford only events draw a different crowd one, a crowd that I’m pertically comfortable in.
A huge shout to car of the show winner Lou and Peter from Ford Tec for making it a great day, and of course all the other hundreds of folk involved in some way shape or form.
